In this eight-week acting class for adults, you’ll explore Method Acting, work on scripted material, and engage in both short-form and long-form improvisation. Improv serves both as a tool for developing original scenes and as its own creative practice: building spontaneity, listening, and emotional truth. Each two-hour session offers the chance to strengthen your craft, whether you’re a beginner building confidence or an experienced actor refining your skills. Scenes created in class will be filmed, and participants who wish to may use the footage to build or update a demo reel. Join us to explore, create, and grow.

New students are required to meet with Jeremy for a one-hour introductory one-on-one session before joining a class.

CLASS: Create Your Own Story: From Idea to Stage or Screen

Start dates are flexible, and the schedule and cost depend on the size and scope of your project.

This one-on-one or small group class is available year-round – you can start whenever you’re ready. Students of any age will conceive, develop, workshop, rehearse, and bring their own original story to life – either as a staged play or a short film. Under the direction of Jeremy Kruse, Artistic Director of Gorton Drama Studio, you’ll experience the complete creative process: building characters, discovering relationships, shaping improvised scenes into a compelling script, and rehearsing for authentic, emotionally truthful performances.

If the project becomes a film, you’ll learn how to act for the camera, work with multiple takes, and experience the technical side of production — from lighting to sound. If it becomes a play, you’ll gain the rhythm, stamina, and connection needed for live performance. Either way, you’ll leave with professional-level training, a deeper understanding of storytelling, and the thrill of seeing your work realized from the ground up.
